The American Subcontractors Association of Metro Washington (ASAMW) invites members and GC Partners to submit nominations for the 63rd Annual Subby Awards, recognizing outstanding companies and individuals across the region's construction industry.

From project managers and superintendents to safety leaders, subcontractors, general contractors, and service providers, the Subby Awards celebrate the professionals and organizations whose leadership, performance, and commitment to excellence strengthen our industry.

Who Can Submit a Subby Award Nomination?

Nominations may be submitted by employees of current ASAMW member companies and GC Partners.

• Only current ASAMW members may be nominated, except for the Industry Achievement Award, which is open to nonmembers.

• ASAMW members may nominate themselves or their own companies.

• Nominations in multiple award categories are encouraged.

• Nominators must log in to the ASAMW website using a profile linked to their member company.

How to Submit a Strong Nomination

A thoughtful nomination helps the Subby Nominations Committee understand what makes a candidate deserving of recognition.

Make your nomination count:

1. Choose the appropriate award category. Review the categories below and select the award that best fits your nominee.

2. Share specific examples. Describe the nominee's contributions, accomplishments, leadership, or impact during 2026.

3. Explain what sets them apart. Highlight meaningful results, exceptional performance, strong partnerships, or other distinguishing qualities relevant to the award.

4. Submit by December 4. Complete the online nomination form before the deadline.

The Subby Nominations Committee gives the greatest consideration to nominations with thorough, thoughtful responses. Open narrative fields allow up to 3,000 characters.

Recognize general contractors and the professionals whose leadership, teamwork, safety practices, and project performance make a difference.

Celebrate subcontracting companies and the people whose craftsmanship, project execution, safety leadership, and professionalism help drive construction success.

Subcontractor Company Awards 

• Second-Tier Subcontractor
• Subcontractor of the Year Under $15m
• Subcontractor of the Year $15-$50m

Service Provider Award

Recognize a service provider whose expertise, professionalism, and support contribute to the success of construction businesses.

Industry Achievement Award

Honor an individual or organization whose contributions have made a meaningful impact on the construction industry. This is the only category open to nominees who are not ASAMW members.

How Are Subby Award Winners Selected?

The Subby Nominations Committee reviews submissions for eligibility and selects a slate of nominees and finalists for the voting ballot.

One designated individual from each ASAMW member company (excluding GC Partners) may vote for the finalists in each category.

The Industry Achievement Award is determined separately by the ASAMW Board of Directors.

Winners will be announced and recognized at the 63rd Annual Subby Awards Gala on March 13, 2027.

When are nominations open for the 2027 Subby Awards?

Nominations open November 6, 2026, and close at midnight on Friday, December 4, 2026.

Who can submit a nomination?

Employees of ASAMW member companies and GC Partners may submit nominations. Nominators must use an ASAMW website profile linked to their member company.

Can I nominate my own company or myself?

Yes. ASAMW members may self-nominate for any applicable award.

Can I nominate someone in more than one category?

Yes. Nominations in multiple categories are encouraged.

Can a nonmember receive a Subby Award?

Only current ASAMW members are eligible for nomination, with one exception: the Industry Achievement Award may recognize nonmembers.

How are Subby Award finalists and winners selected?

The Subby Nominations Committee reviews nominations and selects finalists. One designated representative from each ASAMW member company may vote on the finalists, except for the Industry Achievement Award, which is determined by the ASAMW Board of Directors. GC Partners do not participate in voting.

When and where will the 2027 Subby Award winners be announced?

Winners will be recognized at the 63rd Annual Subby Awards Gala on Saturday, March 13, 2027, at the JW Marriott Reston Station in Reston, Virginia.

The nomination process culminates in one of ASAMW's signature industry celebrations: the 63rd Annual Subby Awards Gala.

Join the Metro Washington construction community on Saturday, March 13, 2027, at the JW Marriott Reston Station as we recognize the people, companies, and achievements that distinguish our industry.

Gala ticket and sponsorship sales are expected to open in late December 2026 or early January 2027.
